Zoria Beatrice Harps

Zoria Beatrice (Jones) Harps age 82, passed on to be with Our Blessed Lord on Wednesday June 27th, 2017. Zoria was born in Lockhart, Louisiana on September 22nd, 1934 and graduated in 1952 from Westside High School in Louisiana. She attended Grambling University and shortly after fell in love and married Christopher Columbus Harps. Zoria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt. She spent many of her younger years giving to the church and her community. She loved to cook and baked for others; it wasn't unusual for family, friends and community members to show up at her home unexpectedly and leave with a plate of food or a baked good. Well into Zoria's mid 70's she herself cared for, as she put it, the elderly. Zoria would often take people in, and around her community to doctor's appointments, and grocery shopping when they were not able to get around. Zoria was preceded in death by her parents Palmer and Cora Jones, her husband Christopher Columbus Harps, daughter Gayle Harps-Wise and sisters Willie-Mae Wayne, Vera L. Jones, and brother, Lavelle Jones. Zoria leaves behind her son's Andre, Mark (daughter-in-law Pat), Dale, and grandchildren Leslie, Clarissa, Matt, Marcus, Johnathan Lamar, Mark Anthony, Dale Jr., Zaria, Anthony Jr., Zion, Zania, Christopher and Cameron, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm with Funeral Service at 12:00pm on Wednesday, July 5th, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Committal Service to follow at 1:30pm at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 4848 Alps. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
