Yvonne Kirk

“O how great the goodness of our God who prepareth a way for our escape from the grasp of this aweful monster." Yvonne Kirk was born in Pittsburg, OK (McAlester Metro) September 3, 1933 to Odell and Norma Kirk. He is survived by mother, Norma Kirk; brother, William O. Kirk; and sisters: Lucille Vaughn, Marie Curtis, Ernestine Williams, Elsie Meadows, and Wanda Sykes. Yvonne was preceded in death by his brother Leroy Kirk and sister Maxine Kirk-Stewart. Yvonne was the father of five children whom he nurtured into adulthood with all the love, care and life experiences he could give. This same love was extended to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Yvonne leaves to cherish his memory: Wife, Emogene, El Paso, TX and mother, Norma, Oklahoma, OK Gordon D. Kirk and wife Danna, Oklahoma City, OK Gerald A. Kirk and wife Retta, Oklahoma City, OK Phyllis A. Broadnax and Wade D. Broadnax, Fairfield, CA Cheri D. Kirk, Rolling Meadows, IL Jeanna Y. Kirk, El Paso, TX On Saturday, December 13, 2008, Yvonne, devoted husband to wife Emogene, departed this life at the age of 75. Yvonne battled hard in life as an African American soldier in the United States Army for 27 years where he was deployed several times to tours in Vietnam. Yvonne Kirk’s life was centered on his family and extended family; enjoying traveling around the United States visiting those members. Yvonne was also a very talented and gifted carpenter as is evident in the crafts displayed throughout his lovely home. Yvonne actively played baseball with a group of senior sportsman and later participated as their number one fan. Yvonne proved to be very gifted in horticulture which is evident in the scrumptious vegetable, fruits and nuts grown at his home. Yvonne was very health conscious and actively enjoyed various health and strength activities. As a military retiree, Yvonne Kirk will lay at rest at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, TX. Visitation 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral Service at 1:00 pm, Monday, December 22, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
