Ysela Provencio Fulton O’Malley, 79, died peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2012 after courageously, patiently fighting many serious illnesses. She was well known for her smile and her indomitable spirit. Born July 25, 1932 on her parent’s farm, Ysella Olivia was the youngest daughter of Luis and Albina Geck Provencio and is survived by her sisters: Lillian Corpening, Vestina Ruffin, and Elva Arditti. Her love of the Mesilla Valley, family, horseback riding, watermelons, apricots, and most of all her Catholic faith stayed with her always. She graduated from Loretto Academy and received B.A and M.A from the University of Texas at El Paso. She also attended graduate school at UT Austin and the prestigious Chouinard Art Institute. Ysela was an Opera Singer, Fashion Designer, and Artist. Her art work hangs in many galleries, museums and private homes and haunts with their luminosity. Ysela taught art in the El Paso Public schools, El Paso Community College, UTEP. She traveled extensively in Europe and Mexico and was also a Curator at El Paso Museum of Art. Ysela was widowed twice: first married to the artist Jaime Fulton and later to Major John F. O’Malley. She is survived by her children Ysella Fulton Slavin, Gary O’Malley, and their spouses Eric and Gladys, grandchildren: Nicole, Noah Slavin, Catherine, Siena, and Ian O’Malley. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 9 pm, Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with a Rosary beginning at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am, Friday, May 25, 2012 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
