Yolanda A. Silva

Yolanda Silva, age 91, passed away in her home on April 29, 2022, surrounded by her family. She joined her beloved husband, Oscar, and son, Thomas, in heaven for a joyful homecoming. We envision them all fishing together now, their favorite pastime.

Mrs. Silva is survived by her son, Oscar G. Silva, from Albuquerque, NM and his wife, Rita. She is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Silva, and his surviving wife, Melissa. Yolanda will be lovingly remembered by her twelve grandchildren Randy, Andy, Oscar, Tomas, Sergio, Christina, Anthony, Thomas, Celine, Marcus, Joseph, and Amanda. Mrs. Silva had 16 great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife and mother, and she will be greatly missed.

Born June 29, 1930, Yolanda was an El Paso native. She worked at Salvation Army for many years. She greatly enjoyed assisting the underprivileged by providing the provisions that they needed. She was known for her amazing cooking skills and sharp wit. Family and friends always said that Yolanda should have owned a restaurant, her chili rellenos were legendary.

Her husband, Oscar, was her soulmate, their love and devotion for each other was inspirational. Her love for her children was her greatest testament.

The family expresses deep appreciation to her granddaughter, Christina Silva and all the compassionate caregivers, Maria, Adriana, and Gloria that cared for Yolanda in the latter years of her life. They truly gave her the best quality of life despite her disease.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, May 23, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, where Yolanda will be laid to rest with her husband, Oscar, a WWII veteran. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations for research on Alzheimers. https://www.alz.org/
