Yolanda "Yolie" Montoya

Yolanda “Yolie” Montoya, age 77, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be dearly missed. 

Yolie was born in Smelter-town, Texas and a graduate of El Paso high school class of 1966. She retired after 30+ years working for Texas Department of health and human services in El Paso. She had an extraordinary heart and her love for her husband and sons was indescribable. Yolie was an amazing grandmother and auntie (Yolie) to manny. She loved having her coffee and sweetbread every morning / night and cooking, her specialty for every party was chile con queso (per request) Mom was always ready for family vacations, trips to visit her sons and of course Disneyland. Yolie will truly be missed, and her spirit will live on through her sons, husband and family. The Montoya family would also like to thank everyone for their continuous support and Prayers during this difficult time.

Yolanda is preceded in death by her parents: Jose R. Lopez and Esperanza Arrellano, and her siblings: Oscar Lopez and Julie Romero. She is survived by her husband of 52 years: Raymundo Enrique Montoya Sr., her sons: Raymundo Enrique Montoya Jr. (Yvonne), Danny Montoya, David Montoya, and Joseph Michael Montoya, her grandchildren: Matthew Montoya, Amber Montoya, Monique Montoya, and Monique Mackay, her sister-in-law: Gloria Lopez and family, her cousin: Teddy Martinez, and family as well as her great-grandchildren: Matthew Montoya Jr., Christian Montoya, and Sophie Mackey. She is also survived by many extended family and friends to cherish and honor her memory.

Pallbearers include: Ray, Danny, David, Joseph, and Matthew Montoya, and Oscar Lopez Jr. 

Honorary pallbearers include: Able Martinez, Juan Carlos Silva, and Charlie Mackay

A Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, September 26, 2024 with a Holy Rosary to commence at 6:00pm at Sunset Funeral Homes-West. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 27, 2024 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 400 W. Sunset. A Graveside Service will follow at 1:00pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
