Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Ynez Hernandez, went to be with The Lord on April 29, 2009. He was born January 21, 1921 to Rosendo and Eugenia Hernandez. He is survived by his wife, Concepcion of 56 years. Children Arturo and wife Ana, Rosendo and wife Rosalinda, Gina and husband Bobby Lopez, Enrique and wife Cindy, Oscar Hernandez, Elsa and husband Perfecto Valdez, eleven grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was a WWII Veteran, served in the 407 Infantry Regiment, 102nd Infantry Division in Germany in 1942. He received the American Theater Campaign ribbon, EAME Campaign ribbon with 2 bronze stars, good conduct medal, victory ribbon, 1 service stripe and 2 overseas service bars. After returning home from the war, he along with his 3 brothers were farmers for many years in the upper valley.
He will be missed, but not forgotten!
Arrangements are with Sunset Funeral Home - West. Visitation will be Sunday, May 3rd from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm. Chapel Service on Monday, May 4th at Sunset Funeral Home-West at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of El Paso.
