Wynona Jean Ware

August 4, 1936 — January 1, 2025

El Paso

Wynona Jean Ware, 88, of El Paso, TX, passed away peacefully at Sanctuary Hospice House of Tupelo, MS, on January 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Shattuck, OK, in 1936, to Gilbert Holden and Gladys Faye (George) Holden. Wynona lived most of her life in El Paso, TX, as an enthusiastic homemaker, faithfully caring for her husband and her five children. In her latter years, she lived with her children in El Paso, New Mexico, and Mississippi.

Wynona was an active member of the parent teacher association (PTA) and loved being a “room mother” and chaperoning dances for her children and their classmates while they were in school. She was also in the local Lions Club with her husband, Dewayne, where they both enjoyed attending monthly meetings and parties together.

Everyone who knew Wynona knew she loved bowling. She was a part of a bowling league, where she acquired many trophies for her skillset. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, and reading horror books by Stephen King in her spare time.

Wynona will always be remembered for her love for butterflies, her fingers full of jewelry, her love for cats and dogs, and her fierce, spunky, and loving personality. Many beloved family and friends will dearly miss her.

Wynona is survived by four children, Jo Cabler of Tupelo, MS, Cindy Gandy (Matt) of Carlsbad, NM, Kenny Ware (Norma) of El Paso, TX, and Keith Ware of Tupelo, MS; fourteen grandchildren, Denise Loper (Aaron), April Barnett (Tim), David Ware, Roy Ware, Shawna Rundle (Lee), Nicki Kane (Chase), Garrett Gandy (Kristin), Emily Jacquez (Alfred), Jesse Ware (Michelle), Eric Ware (Karla), Michael Ware, Johnathon Ware (Autumn), Nicholas Ware, and Jeremy Cabler; twenty-five great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Chris Ware, Bobby Ware, and Paul Ware; and a special best friend Vivian Young (sister).

Wynona is preceded in death by Dewayne Ware (spouse), Gilbert Holden (father), Gladys Faye (George) Holden (mother), Brad Ware (son), Stevie Ware (grandson), Bonnie Woolven (sister), and one brother.
