Willie D. Ross Jr. was born on July 25, 1945 to Evelene Jefferson and Willie D. Ross, Sr. in Palestine, Texas. Willie departed this earth to be with our Lord on April 17, 2007. Willie attended Blackshear High in La Mesa, Texas before joining the United States Army. During his duty he received many awards and commendations. He served in the Vietnam War where he was wounded but more so continued to serve his country. After his term was completed he arrived in El Paso, Texas where it became his home. He found his life long partner Estela, and they began their journey thru life together. Shortly after he began his second career with Merchants Fast Motor Lines, Inc. as a truck driver. After many years with the company, he retired. Willie enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, working on his cars, fishing, traveling, and having them “good ol talks” with longtime friend, Silas “Brown” M. Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Johnny C. Ross. Willie leaves behind his devoted wife, Maria E. Ross of Durango; children: Evelyn L. Ross, Willie D. Ross III, Ivonne Covarrubias, Jose A. Covarrubias and Michelle Gallegos, all of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren: Dametrious D. Riddell, Diamonique A. Ratcliff, Jose A. Covarrubias, Mark A. Covarrubias, Jose O. Covarrubias, Willie A. Covarrubias, Armando Flores, Jr., Amelia B. Flores, and Destiny A. Flores, all of El Paso, Texas; uncle, D.C. Jefferson of La Mesa, Texas; aunts, Berlene Jefferson and Arlene Jefferson; sisters: Annie Lou Hart, Pearlene Briscoe, Pearlie Brooks, and Loretta Free, all of Denver, Colorado; brothers, Matthew Ross from Lubbock, Texas; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. Visitation will be held from 4-9 pm, Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Graveside Service will be held with Military Honors at 10:00 am, Monday, April 23, 2007 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
