Willie Floyd Newberry

Willie Floyd Newberry was born to the late Ruth and Willie Newberry on November 19, 1943 in Marion, Georgia. Willie joined the U.S. Army in 1961. He deafened our country in the Vietnam War and Korean War and retired as a Sgt. Major at Fort Bliss in 1988. He married Lacy Elizabeth Smith on July 11, 1961 in Johnstown, PA, where they both traveled throughout his military career of 27 ½ years. They came to El Paso, TX in 1976 where he continued to serve in the U.S. Army. Willie was a long time member of several organizations to include American Legion, The Freemasonry Organization, and the Shrines Organization. In 2004, Willie and Lacy opened up their own home health care agency. Our Angel Home Health was open to the public of El Paso, TX. He was also a shareholder of the company. His job title was Chief Financial Officer along with other job titles. On Thursday July 1, 2010 Willie was called home. He leaves to mourn a beautiful and devoted wife, Lacy E. Newbery. One daughter: Dora L. Johnson and her husband, Charles Johnson, Jr.; seven sons: Willie Newberry, III, the late Marvin L. Newberry, Robert Newberry, Joshua Newberry, Richard Newberry and his wife Racheal Newberry; Jacob L. Newberry, and Jonathon Newberry. Three sisters: Betty Cadore, Olivia Lane, and Anne Moore. Four Brothers: Marvin Wade, Anthony Wade, Darnell Wade and the late Charie Newberry. Five grandchildren: Lacy Johnson, Teresa Johnson, Patrisha Johnson, Gianna Newberry, William Newberry, five great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 6 to 9 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 10:30 am at Greater Mt Calvary Church of God and Christ. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
