Wanda Roene Walker Isaacks passed away from complication of multiple schlerosis on January 7, 2009. She was born in Oklahoma City, OK on September 4, 1932 to Howard and Jessie Walker. The family moved to El Paso when she was 8 years old. Wanda graduated from Austin High School and the University of Texas at El Paso. She married Dick Isaacks in El Paso on June 7, 1952. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Jessie Walker and her sister Nancy Vickers. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Dick Isaacks; her children Kathryn Richards, Melanie Baffert, Carol Dee Eiland (Randy), and David Isaacks; eleven grandchildren: six great grandchildren; and her sister Arlene Tischenor. Wanda greatly enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, doing needlework, playing bridge, writing, going out to eat and to the movies, and visiting her cabin in Alto. Shortly after arriving in El Paso, she and her family joined First Christian Church where she remained an active member throughout her life. She taught Sunday school for many years, sang in the choir, was a deaconess, an Elder, an Elder Emeritus; and was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 11:00 am at First Christian Church, 901 Arizona. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund. The family would like to especially thank Monica, Bertha and Fred from the Visiting Nurses Association and Mary and Stephanie from CIMA Hospice who took such wonderful care of Wanda during the past two years of her life.
