Walter Dale Chowning

Our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather Walter D. Chowning 82, passed away peacefully Saturday April 11, 2009 after a period of declining health. He was a WWII veteran during the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign. He was worshipful master (1970-71) of Fraternity Lodge # 1111, AF & AM, 32nd Mason Lodge of the Perfection Scottish Rite Temple, and a member of Woodbine Chapter # 738, Order of the Eastern Star. He was an avid fisherman and long time fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Mavis “Mickey” Chowning and daughter Sharon Grace Chowning. He is survived by daughters Eileen Chowning, Carol Escarciga and Alma Jean Wilson, sister Alma Bombach, Brothers Alvan Chowning, Floyd Chowning, Lyn Chowning, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Service will be at 9:30 am on Friday, April 17, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
