Wade H Spruill

SPRUILL, SSG (USA, Ret) Wade Hardison Spruill passed away on July 22, 2011 following a short but challenging battle with lung cancer. Born in Columbia, North Carolina, on July 27, 1940 to Ned and Eva Spruill, Wade grew up in Virginia Beach VA and joined the United States Army in 1956. Following a dedicated 20-year Air Defense career that included three tours at Ft Bliss, two tours in Okinawa, and tours in Vietnam, Germany , and Alaska as well as many others, SSG Spruill retired from active duty in 1976. Following his retirement from the Army, Wade and his family remained in El Paso and he worked for Morgan’s Custom Craft Equipment (CCE) and Custom Equipment Fabricators as a sheet metal worker until his final retirement in 2000. A past President (1981-82) and proud former member of the El Paso Mountain Lion’s Club, Wade was preceded in death by both his parents and is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Barbara Spruill: his daughter Diana and her husband Col (USAF, Ret) Steve Barrett of El Paso, TX; his daughter Rebecca Spruill of El Paso, TX; his Grandsons James Wade Barrett of Virginia Beach, VA and Nathan Wade Spruill of El Paso, TX; his brother Jack Spruill and wife Judy of Boydton, VA; his brother Bliss Spruill and wife Jackie of Virginia Beach, VA; his sister Allie Hughes and husband Billy of Virginia Beach, VA and many nieces and nephews. The extended Spruill family expresses their deepest appreciation to Liz, Jamie, Priscilla and the entire Hospice El Paso staff for their caring support these past few months. Burial services will be held at 2:00PM on his 71st birthday, Wednesday July 27, 2011 at Ft Bliss Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Wade’s name to Hospice El Paso.
