Virginia Lillian White

April 30, 1925 — January 27, 2011

Virginia L. White died January 27, 2011. Ginny, a native New Yorker, was born April 30, 1925, to Michael and Rose Esto. After graduation from John Adams High in Ozone Park, Ginny worked as a secretary in Manhattan, including an exciting time at the Celanese Corporation offices in the Empire State Building. Ginny married Victor Voss Firth and travelled with him on an Army tour to France and ultimately to Fort Bliss, where Ginny’s loving son Victor was born. In the 70’s, Ginny relocated to Oklahoma City with new husband Jim White, where she built a thriving chain of nightspots, including her favorite Club Burgundy. In retirement, Ginny moved back to El Paso in the 90’s to be close to Victor and her daughter-in-law, Sylvia. Ginny stayed very active with part-time jobs and volunteer service for UTEP’s Centennial Museum. She enjoyed her friends and dancing partners at Memorial and Polly Harris Senior Centers, and could always find comfort watching classic black and white movies. Victor and Sylvia express sincere thanks to Dr. Alfonso Chavez for his special efforts and compassionate care for Ginny. Mom…we love you. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with a Catholic Service at 7:00 pm.
