Virginia F. Galindo

December 1, 1918 — June 20, 2011

Virginia F. Galindo has gone to heaven to join her beloved husband, Enrique Galindo whom she dearly loved. Virginia took her final breath on this earth on Monday, June 20, 2011, surrounded by her loved ones. Mom was born on December 1, 1918 and lived up until the age of 92 ½ years. Mom was loved by many people who were there to help her get ready to take her trip to heaven. Mom was known by many nicknames such as Virgie, La Doña, Mama Galindo, La Vergies and Ama. My mom was a wonderful daughter, a beloved wife, a great mother and a true friend to many people. She is survived by her son, Joe H. Galindo; daughter, Irene Galindo; nieces: Patricia Rodriguez, Dolores Dominguez, Ymelda Buffington, and Queta G. Fierro. Virginia had 3 special adopted daughters with such big hearts-Irma Jaloma Keith, Celia Sandoval Armendariz and Becky Rivera Santos. We are forever grateful to them for always being there for her, especially during her last days. My brother and I are truly grateful to 2 beautiful women who dedicated their lives taking care of our precious mother. They are Rosita Piedra and Lucy Martinez. Muchas Gracias Rosita y Lucy por darle mucho amor y cuidar muy bien a nuestra querida mama. Que Dios Las Bendiga. We would also like to thank mom’s neighbors who looked after her always. All your kind deeds are truly appreciated. My brother and I would also like to thank everyone at La Mariposa Hospice for the beautiful job they did in caring for our mother. All of you went above and beyond to help mom feel as comfortable as possible. We especially want to thank Blanca Esparza, CNA, who did a beautiful job bathing our mother. Last but not least, a million thanks for to Andy Bejarano, R.N., her wonderful nurse who was always there for her and for all of us, especially at the end. There are not enough words to tell you THANK YOU for a beautiful job well done. May God bless all of you. Mom is also survived by many other nephews, nieces, relatives and many great friends. Visitation will be held from 4-9pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7pm, Monday, June 27, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast on Hondo Pass. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30am, Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral at 1118 N. Mesa. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. A Reception is scheduled from 12-3pm at the Marriott Hotel, 1600 Airway Blvd. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
