Viki Cole Williams

October 31, 1942 — March 16, 2021

Viki Cole Williams, age 78, passed away on March 16, 2021. Viki was born in Milan, Tennessee to Ralph Alexander Cole and Lucile Alberta Rich Cole. She graduated from Milan Public Schools in 1960. In 1964, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary and Religious Education from Bethel College in Tennessee. From the University of Georgia, she was awarded a Graduate Degree in Audiology and Speech and Language Pathology in 1968. Her 1968 employment then began as staff/faculty with the University of Tennessee School of Medicine in the Department of Otolaryngology as a clinical audiologist. Viki was married to Fred D. Williams from 1970-1982. In 1970, she became a teacher/administrator with the County Wide School for the Deaf in El Paso and was then appointed to the Texas Board of Education as Superintendent of the West Texas-Panhandle Regional Day Schools for the Deaf from 1973-1977. From 1981-2001, she taught elementary school at Beall and de Zavalla in El Paso. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Stephen Cole and parents Ralph and Lucile Cole. She is survived by her brother John A. Cole, son Benjamin H. Williams, daughter Sara S. Williams and Savannah, her black Labrador Retriever. Viki began church as a Cumberland Presbyterian and was a member of University Presbyterian Church since 1975. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to University Presbyterian Church, El Paso, Texas or an organization for adult literacy. Due to COVID restrictions, a memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
