Vernon Henry Castle, Jr., age 77, passed away April 16, 2022, at his home in El Paso from complications of lung and brain cancer. Vernon was born March 14, 1945, in Alexandria, Louisiana to Vernon Castle, Sr. and Grayce (Pollinzi) Castle. In 1968, he received a BS in Architecture from U of T at Austin. He married Linda Schroeder on February 8, 1969, in Winters, TX. He and Linda lived and worked for a year in Silver City, NM, where he developed a love of fishing in the Gila Wilderness. After moving to El Paso in 1970, he worked as an architectural draftsman, then construction project estimator and manager. He formed his own company, building commercial and residential projects. He was loved for his sense of humor, curious mind, and engaging conversation. He enjoyed woodworking and had a keen eye for craftsmanship. He loved fishing in the Gila and in the Schroeder farm ponds, cycling on country back roads, and college football. Most of all, he loved his family, his wife Linda of 53 years, his son Curtis Castle, daughter-in-law Laura, grandchildren Benjamin and Valentina, and his daughter Alice Castle, his devoted caregiver at the end of his life. Survived by brother Alan Castle and sisters Teresa Castle and Lesley Castle. A special thank you to his supportive sisters-in-law, Sylvia Richie and Jan Schroeder and their families, and to his long-time friend, Kevin Lovell. His remains will be placed in Bluff Creek Cemetery, Taylor County, Texas.
