Velia Armendariz, 97, entered into eternal rest on April 29, 2022. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Manuel Armendariz, and together they celebrated 78 years of marriage. Jose Efren Ramirez and Maria Luisa (Duchene) Ramirez, her parents, also preceded her in death.
Velia is survived by two sons and two daughters: Victor (Sharon), Ruben (Rachel), Velia Irene Batres and Deborah Ann Armendariz: Five Grandchildren: Christina Irene Fredenberg, Rebecca Yvonne Batres, Lisa Nadine Armendariz, Gina Courter, and Keevin Harper. Her legacy continues with seven Great Grandchildren and three Great Great Grandchildren.
Mom's purpose in life was exemplified as she demonstrated the quintessential Proverb 31 Woman with her love, dedication and devotion to her family. Most inspiring was mom's attributes of love and selflessness in caring for Debbie, our sister, with Down Syndrome.
Her ultimate joy was to gather the family around the table for family meals on holidays as well for other occasions. We enjoyed her green chicken enchiladas, scrumptious hams, pancakes and her lemon meringue pies.
Mom's leisure time included water color painting, playing bunco, water aerobics, viewing the holiday concert specials on TY, and reading her daily Christian devotionals. Our mother will always be in our "Hearts Forever."
Special thanks to Dania, Jenny, Liz, Allie and to all the other ladies at Golden Park Adult Foster. It was such a joy to see my mother so happy under your care. Also, thank you to all the medical staff from Hospice El Paso and to Encompass. Thank you, also, to Leo, Carmen and Pilar for your attentive care and expertise for mom and dad.
