Tyrus Monroe Halmos, passed away peacefully the morning of his 34th birthday, Monday, February 12, 2007, after a long illness at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a resident of El Paso the past 24 years. Afflicted with a disability from birth, he was a great son who lived beyond his years. TYRUS had no care about everyday worries and predicaments. He always lived for the moment for his life was about schedule and timeliness. His great accomplishments were graduating from the Ysleta Learning Center and participating in Special Olympics. He took tremendous joy in swimming and bowling; and loved music and comedies. He is survived by his mother Yvonne (Bonnie) Halmos and father SGM, USA (Ret.) Dwaine (Hawk) Halmos; brothers Dwaine Jr. (DJ) and SGT (USA) Raphael (Ray) Halmos; sister-in-law Anjeanette Halmos; his grandmother Sophie Sambueno; and a multitude of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and family friends. His laughter and smile, attitude of life were outstanding teaching tools. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 9:00 pm, with a rosary to begin at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Cremation and Interment in Hawaii.
