Thomas Koller Waugh

Thomas Koller Waugh passed away April 6, 2012 after a brave fight with Cancer. He was born September 2, 1942 to Loren Ray Waugh and Mary Koller Waugh in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Thomas graduated from St John’s University in 1964 and received his Physical Therapy degree from the University of Iowa in 1965. He was an athletic trainer for several years before joining the Army for a two year service as a Physical Therapist. He was stationed in El Paso at William Beaumont Hospital. He moved back to El Paso in 1973 and has been in private practice as a Physical Therapist since 1976. He was very active in the state and local Physical Therapy Associations. He served as a Board Member of the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners; Chair of the Investigative Committee of the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners; President of the Texas Physical Therapy Association, and Chief Delegate of the Texas Delegation to the American Physical Therapy Association House of Delegates. In 1997, Tom was recognized as the Outstanding Physical Therapist in Texas. In 2000 The Texas Physical Therapy Association honored him by starting the Tom Waugh Leadership Award. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marcia Waugh; daughter Amy Hamlet; son-in-law Clark Hamlet and grandchildren, Dylan Hamlet and Spencer Hamlet; brother Patrick Waugh; sisters Barbara Fitzmorris and Mary Waugh and numerous nieces and nephews. The viewing will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 480 N Resler, on Wednesday, April 11th from 5:00 to 9:00 with a Rosary at 7:00, The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 12th at 1:00pm at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, 1118 N Mesa, with Internment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. The family would like memorial donations made to St John’s University Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 7222 in Collegeville Minnesota 56321 or the Texas Physical Therapy Association Tom Waugh Leadership Fund.
