Thomas A Raffel

Tom Raffel was born Sept. 8, 1933 in Madison, Wisconsin to George and Helen Raffel. He was raised and educated in Wisconsin. He married Elsie Trujillo in 1966 in Alamogordo, NM. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines on July 5, 1953 and received his honorable discharge July 4, 1955. Upon his discharge, Tom went to work for IBM. His distinguished 36 ½ year career included relocating to Germany as a computer engineer with the U.S. Army before returning to El Paso in 1969. He was a devoted member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was also a 4th degree knight of the Knights of Columbus and a member of Alhambra. Tom died Wednesday October 24, 2007 at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso. Tom was preceded in death by Brother, Donald Raffel. Survivors include wife Elsie M. Raffel of El Paso, son Mark Raffel and wife Lida of Oceanside, CA, daughter Camelyn Raffel and fiancé Salvador Marquez, Jr. of Carrollton, TX, grandchildren Kaela Raffel and Andrew Lucas, Brother John Raffel of Madison, WI and sister Nancy Diebold of Cross Plains, WI. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm with a Rosary/Vigil to begin at 7pm, Monday, October 29, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
