Thomas J. Bennett “Tom” 48 born November 18, 1960 passed away in Colorado Springs, CO on July 20, 2009. Tom was born in Nurnberg, Germany. He was formerly from El Paso, Texas and graduated from Irvin High School. Tom worked with the Flight Service in Gallup, NM and San Angelo, TX. Later he became an Air Traffic Controller in El Paso, TX, Denver and Colorado Springs, CO. While working at Flight Service in Gallup, NM, Tom met his loving wife, Irma of 16 years. He is also survived by his parents, J.B. and Audrey Bennett, His daughter, Valari Bennett (Danny Acuna), two grandchildren, Zoe Bennett and D.J. Acuna, and one brother, Bruce (Maria) from Corpus Christi, TX. Other survivors are his Mother-in-law, Esperanza Jones, sisters-in-law, Lucy Pavia, Gloria Alejandre (Primo) and Toni Sanchez (Jesse) and two nephews and one niece, Broderick, Thomas, and Cassidy and several uncles and aunts. Tom loved all sports, especially golf, hiking and the outdoors. Tom was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm with Scripture Service at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral Service at 12:15 pm, Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Primo Alejandre, Daniel Acuna, Jesse Sanchez, Joe Carter, Jon Van Arsdel, and Gene Gawthrope. Honorary Pallbearers will be Albuquerque, Colorado Springs, Denver, and El Paso Air Traffic Controllers and NATCA members. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
