Teofilo C. Hernandez Jr.

Teofilo C. Hernandez, Jr., age 90, entered into the hands of his Lord on Friday, November 29, 2024 in El Paso, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, and will be dearly missed. Teofilo was born on January 27, 1934, in Marfa, Texas to Teofilo Hernandez, Sr. and Guadalupe Carrasco Hernandez. Teofilo graduated from Sul Ross State University with a Bachelor in Science in 1960 following his years in the United States Air Force. He retired from the El Paso Independent School District as a teacher in 1993 after 29 years of dedicated service. Teofilo was active in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a passionate follower of the Dallas Cowboys. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. 

Teofilo is preceded in death by his first wife, Rosa Bruns Hernandez; his parents Teofilo and Guadalupe Carrasco Hernandez, Sr. and his son-in-law Ray Johnson. He is survived by his wife Ida Prieto Hernandez; his daughter Eva Marie Johnson; his sons Rudy (Leigh Ann), Louis (Claudia), Teofilo III (Debra), and Christopher (Teresa); brother Robert (Jeanie) Hernandez; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 6:00pm on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9025 Diana Dr. Committal Service to follow at 1:30pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave
