Tammy Shedrick Johnson

August 16, 1963 — February 5, 2022

Tammy Shedrick Johnson, 58, of El Paso, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, with her family by her side. Tammy graced the world with her presence when she was born to Rosa and Charles Shedrick in Okinawa, Japan on August 16, 1963. As a military brat, Tammy lived in Germany in her early years before her father was stationed to Ft. Bliss, Texas. Tammy graduated from Parkland High School in 1981 and attended the University of Texas - El Paso. She was a trailblazer in the banking industry for 34 years, retiring from the profession as an Assistant Vice President for Bank of America. Tammy married the love of her life, Anthony T. Johnson, on December 22, 1995, becoming a devoted military wife. Together they built a life rooted in love and carried through their faith in God. She is honored and survived by her "heartbeats, "Brittney Walker (Roddray Walker), Ryan Long (LaToya Williams), Christian Johnson (Nicole Marquez), and Destiney Johnson (Chris Meza), and her bonus sons, Shannon Ward Johnson, DeMario Johnson, and Demetrius Johnson. She was preceded in death by her bonus son, Anthony Johnson, Jr. She was a living miracle having received a gift of life from her beloved sister-in-law, Christine Shedrick, in 2006. This miracle carried her very nearly another sixteen years to celebrate new life and transition into the joys of being a grandmother as "Mima." Tammy's legacy is continued through her five grandchildren, Ryan, Marley, La'Ryah, Lena Belle, and Royalty, all of whom she immensely loved. Tammy relished in spending time with her family more than anything, treasure every moment from traveling, attending games, spoiling her grandbabies, holidays, and many lively conversations. Tammy was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Shedrick, and her sister, Debra Brown. She is survived by her father, Charles Shedrick, brothers Roderick Sherick (Christine Shedrick) and Charles J. Shedrick (Janet Shedrick), and several nieces and nephews. Tammy's love of family extended beyond that of blood; she is also survived by her closest friend of over 30 years, her sister in Christ, Mari Leathers. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12th, at 3:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home West, 280 North Resler, El Paso, Texas 79912.
