Steven Taylor Soderborg III, 23, passed away in an automobile accident on August 25, 2016 at 8:30am near Soda Springs, Idaho.
Steven was born on May 29, 1993 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He attended school in Clarksville, Arkansas, Dodge City, Kansas, Hyrum, Utah, and graduated from Parkland High School in El Paso, Texas in 2012.
Steven was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission in Argentina Buenos Aires West from 2013-2015.
Steven was an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of Arrow and earned his Arrow of Light as a Cub.
He was a three year letterman for the Parkland Matador Football team where he played as an offensive lineman.
He was a member of the National Honor Society and Valedictorian of the 2012 graduating class. He earned the distinguished Matador Award. He earned the Presidential Award from UTEP and they also awarded him free tuition for his first year and he earned a YISD scholarship.
At the time of his death, he was enrolled attending BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho. He planned to be a History teacher and a football coach.
Steven’s life mission was serving and helping others. While in elementary school he was given the assignment to assist a wheelchair student from class to class each day. On his mission, each week Steven assisted a wheelchair bound member to church. Steven and his dad and brothers were often seen helping people move.
Steven is survived by his parents, Taylor and Rhonda Soderborg of El Paso, Texas. Two brothers, Jordan of El Paso and Micheal serving an LDS mission in Oregon, two sisters of the home, Ashton and Anne Marie. His grandparents; Steve and Joanne Soderborg of West Jordan, Utah and Pete and Mary Bennett of Preston, Idaho. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the United States.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 10am at the Sunset Funeral Home –Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass, El Paso, Texas. Interment will be at the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
