Stephen Leigh Howell

Stephen Leigh Howell passed early Sunday morning, April 18, 2010. Steve had been fighting a host of medical problems for a lengthy period of time. Steve was born an El Pasoan in 1948, attending Coronado High School where he was a member of the first graduating class. He played in the concert band and was the place kicker on the varsity football team. Steve went on to attend UTEP from which he received a B.A. in history. Steve was the service manager at Howell Electronics, Inc. until 1995 when he relocated to Santa Fe and joined the circulation department at The Santa Fe New Mexican. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of El Maida Shrine Temple. He was also a long time member of the El Paso Sheriff’s Posse. Steve is survived by his mother Eleanor A. Howell of El Paso, brother J. Eldon Howell and wife Lorene of El Paso, brother Thomas R. Howell, Jr., and wife Nancy of San Antonio, six nephews and nieces residing in cities other than El Paso and lastly, one great-nephew. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to any worthy charity of your choice. Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery.
