Stanley Calvin Simmons Sr. also known as “Sweetie” to some and “Hurri” to others was born on June 27, 1957 in White Castle, Louisiana to the late Ms. Rosemary Veal. Stanley was the oldest of nine children. Stanley was predeceased in death by his grandparents Ernest & Mildred Simmons and a sister Ms. Geraldine Simmons.
After attending the Job Corps, Stanley joined the U.S. Army in 1977. During his time in the military, he met and married the love of his life Ina AKA “BOO.” Stanley retired from the Army in 1995, he then began another career with Union Pacific Railroad where he also retired from.
Stanley loved his family and spending time at home. During his off time, he enjoyed playing pool, dominoes, and bowling.
Leaving to cherish his memories is his loving and devoted wife of 39 years Ina (Boo) Simmons, one daughter Marie Simmons (San Antonio, TX), one son Stanley C. Simmons Jr. (El Paso), his siblings, Alvin Thomas, Donald Simmons, Nina Simmons Nichols (Edward), Jaqueline Simmons Brown (Raymond), Edward Veal (Tonisha), Charmine Veal and Paula Veal, his grandchildren, his aunts Victoria Martin and Mildred Smith, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephew s, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will take place on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 12:00 - 8:00 PM with Prayer Service at 6:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Committal Service will take place at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 02, 2024 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
