Soledad (Chole) Walaski, 83, passed away on March 16, 2024, in Rockwall, Texas.
Soledad was born March 22, 1940, in Aguascalientes, Mexico to Marina and Leandro Munoz. She was one of seven siblings and was an identical twin. She was raised in El Paso, Texas and graduated from El Paso Technical High School. She worked as a medical records transcriptionist for William Beaumont Army Medical Hospital where she met her husband of 56 years, Bill. They remained in El Paso, to raise their children and stay close to family. She retired in January 2003 and eventually moved to Rockwall, Texas to be closer to where her son, daughter and grandchildren had relocated.
Soledad had a strong sense of right and wrong and endless commitment to caring for her family and others in need. From little gestures to great sacrifice, she was a witness to a life in service to others. She was quick to serve a meal, drive you to a doctor’s appointment, provide financial support in an emergency or lend a helping hand with household chores. With her siblings, she tirelessly cared for her mother until her mother’s passing in 2003. She was a devout catholic who volunteered at her church, taught catechism, and was a member of the Alter Society at Our Lady of the Valley, in El Paso, Texas.
She enjoyed simple things in life: spending time with her family, watching black and white movies, talking, sharing a Coke with her sister and eating her favorites foods: catfish, fried okra, pizza, and peanuts. Her presence will linger in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Soledad is survived by her son James Robert Walaski and wife Michelle of McLendon-Chisholm, TX, and daughter Rebecca Sabin and husband James Troy of Lucas, TX; grandchildren Korie Walaski (Jaime Flores), Evan Sabin, Ryan Sabin, and her beloved Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Walaski, mother Marina Ortega Munoz, father Leandro Munoz, Sr., and siblings Josefina Sedeño, Leandro Muñoz, Luis Muñoz, Refugio Jose Muñoz and Cecilia Brieden.
