Socorro M. Lopez

Socorro M. Lopez was welcomed into Heaven to be with her Savior Jesus on December 31, 2020, at the age of 88. She was born on April 5, 1932, in a small village in Mexico, serving as a grade school teacher at a young age. After moving to another town, she met the love of her life, Gonzalo Lopez, whom she was married to for 68 years. A curious mind, Socorro was self-taught in many of her talents, her greatest being a seamstress. She made countless dresses for weddings, quinceaneras, and anniversaries, with her crowning achievement being designing and crafting the wedding gown for her grandson's bride at the age of 86. She was a devoted Believer, attending mass daily at Our Lady of the Sorrows Catholic Church for many years. There, she volunteered in different areas, creating lasting relationships and impacting the lives of many parishioners. Socorro was beloved for her joyous spirit, living a life marked by smiling, dancing, singing and being deeply rooted in relationships with her family and friends. Her endless amounts of love and God-given wisdom will be missed by all who met her. She is survived by her loving husband, Gonzalo Lopez, daughter Mona Novoa (husband Fernando), grandsons Paul and Phillip Novoa (wife Lindsey), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jesus Gonzalo, and five siblings. Her services will be held Monday, January 18, 2021 in a private ceremony.
