Socorro "Socorrito" Avalos

Socorro “Socorrito“ Avalos peacefully made her spiritual transition to eternal life on July 7, 2011. She was born in La Union, New Mexico on February 9, 1927. Her younger years led her to Las Varas and Delicias, Mexico before becoming a longtime resident of El Paso. She created a loving family with her husband of 58 years, Severo Avalos. She is preceded in death by her husband Severo Avalos, daughters; Maria-Elena Avalos, Manuela Avalos, Alicia Terrazas, sons; Carlos Avalos, Ramon Avalos and Roberto Avalos. Those left to cherish and carry her memory are daughters; Lorenza Avalos, Gloria Vivanco (Lafayette, CO.), sons; Arturo Avalos, David Avalos, Julio-Cesar Avalos and Miguel “Michael“ Avalos (New York, NY.) She was blessed and always enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren (18) and great-grandchildren (26). She was a loving individual. It is with a heavy heart that we accept her passing as she was an inspiration to her family and her friends . . . A fine, true beacon of faith and strength. Visitation for Socorro Avalos will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011 with a Christian Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Internment will be private at a later date . Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
