Silvester A. Valenzuela

September 19, 1920 — November 5, 2011

Silvestre A. Valenzuela, 91, Loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away, peacefully on November 5, 2011. He was born in Oro Grande, NM on Sept. 19, 1920. He is preceded in death by his wife Maria D. Valenzuela. He is survived by his children: Danny Flores (Rosie), Henry Valenzuela (Wanda), Aurora Kelly (Ted), Cecilia Pena (Epi), Johnny Valenzuela (Irene), and Silver Valenzuela (Stephan), his 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and his sister Elena Longoria. Grandpa could do anything and especially loved building. He always had to be doing something. He loved children, especially his grandchildren, and all kinds of animals. He had a unique talent for numbers and mathematics, and found great joy impressing people with his accuracy and speed. He never seemed to have a bad day. As a 32nd degree Mason and El Maida Shriner he volunteered endlessly to help crippled and burned children, in Juarez, El Paso, and Las Vegas, making sure they received the very best care at one of the Shriners Hospitals for Children across the country. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Nothing would make him happier than to be remembered by a donation, to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. (www.shrinershospitals.org). Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West. Please visit our online register book at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net
