Shirley A. Rice-Parham

Shirley Rice-Parham, 80, passed away on Feb 20th, 2009. Shirley was born Nov 1, 1928, in Mishawaka, Indiana. She was the youngest of 3 siblings. She was married to George Rice on July 21, 1947. They moved to El Paso in 1958 where she resided and made their home of over 50 years. Her love of life resonates in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and those with whom she shared the most of her time. Her large family of five children, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren exemplifies her love for children and the importance of family. Shirley was a proud member of the Episcopal Church “Daughters of the King.” For many years, she was a volunteer for Girls Scouts, Schuster Elementary and Irvin High School PTA. She was a self made master of the Culinary Arts. She will be remembered for her homemade pies that only a grandmother could bake. She will be remembered by family and friends for her ability to turn everyday events into a celebration of life. She is survived by her five children, Cheryl Nanos, of El Paso, TX; Sherry Randell, of Phoenix, AZ; Guy Rice, of El Paso, TX; George Rice, of Waco, TX; and Sue Tippett, of Portland, OR; nine Grandchildren and ten Great-Grandchildren. Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, February 23, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast located at 4631 Hondo Pass in El Paso, TX. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Interment is Private. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
