Shirley Ann Hopson

Shirley Ann Hopson, 60, of El Paso, Texas was called home on December 16, 2010. Shirley Ann Hopson was born in Tampa Florida, June 24, 1950 from the holy union of Mr. James Edward Foster and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Foster both who preceded her in death. Her family was then stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX where she grew up and then married Preston Hopson on December 14, 1976 who has preceded her in death. Shirley Ann Hopson attended the University of Texas at El Paso and the New Mexico State University, where she received a BS, and MS degree. She was a teacher and a mentor as she influenced and educated many people as she dedicated her life to over 30 plus years of dedicated service in the educational field. She loved teaching as she had taught in Germany, retired through the Ysleta Independent School District, and even up until her last days she taught at the Gadsden Independent School District. She touched us all by her caring spirit, courage and wisdom of her teachings. She is survived by her two sons, Wayne Foster of El Paso, Texas and Adrian Hopson of El Paso, Texas; 3 sisters; Dolores Tucker (Dallas, Texas) Barbara McKinney and Gloria Foster (El Paso, Texas); 3 nephews Cesar Tucker (San Antonio, Texas), Anthony Tucker (Dallas, Texas), Damian Foster (El Paso, Texas); and 1 niece Tanya Frisbee (Las Vegas, Nevada). Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Service will be at 9:30 am Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
