SFC Wayne Allen Blackburn

April 19, 1963 — February 22, 2010

Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend left us to join our heavenly Father on February 22, 2010. Wayne Allen Blackburn was born in Richmond, Washington on April 19, 1963 to Shawn Blackburn and Shelia Kiernes. After spending his entire childhood in Drummond Montana and graduating from high school, he made the decision to serve our country in 1982. Enlisting in the US Army, as a Short Range Air Defender, was only the beginning of the many tours and deployments he would have ahead of him. On one of his tours in Fort Bliss, TX, he met a young woman named Martha A. Dominguez and was married on April 6th, 1987. Being proud of his military career he served for 20 years and finally retired as a Sergeant First Class. He settled in his hometown of El Paso with his wife of 23 years, Martha Blackburn, sons, Inez Dominguez and Shawn Blackburn and his three grandchildren, Tristan, Kayden, and Ryan. Soon after retiring Wayne enrolled in college to achieve his goal and passion to become a professor of History and on May 10th, 2008 he graduated from UTEP with a bachelor’s degree. He had a big heart full of love especially for his family and friends. Mr. Blackburn is preceded in death by his grandmother, Helen Konda, and his two brothers, Shawn and Darren Blackburn. He is survived by his loving wife , Martha Blackburn, mother, Shelia Kiernes, father, Shawn Blackburn, sons, Inez Dominguez and Shawn Blackburn, daughter, Amber Dominguez, and grandsons, Tristan, Kayden, and Ryan Dominguez. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, February 26, 2010 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
