Passed away on Saturday, 24 of May 2008. Sarna was born 29 of August in Richmond, VA. She was truly a woman of God. She enjoyed cooking and often invited friends over for Sunday dinner. She had a passion for traveling and loved to be near the ocean. Sarna served six years in the United States Army. She separated from the Army to take care of her growing family, and what a dedicated mother and wife she was. She leaves to mourn her memory a loving husband, Nelson Velazquez-Garcia and three devoted children, Kailani Velazquez-Barone (James) of Charleston, South Carolina, Nelson Emilio, Elijah Othniel, two special nephews, Daniel Ortiz-Velazquez, of Honolulu, HI and Montique Pierre Coles, a special niece, Kelly Coles of Richmond, VA, one grandson, Knowledge Ortiz. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her grandfather, Samuel A. Jackson of Richmond, VA, sisters, Valerie Whitlow of Memphis, TN and Tonia Fuller of Richmond, Va., five sister-in-laws, Gisela Velazquez, Nilsa Velazquez, Rosa Velazquez, Aurora Velazquez, and Edith Velazquez, five brother-in-laws, Ivan Velazquez, Edwin Velazquez, Hector Velazquez, Nestor Velazquez, and Luis Rafael Velazquez, uncle, Leonard Jackson (Schquinta) and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Funeral Service will be at 12:30 pm, Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Apostolic Temple. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
