Sarah Lillian Dugger Schwartz, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 5, 2009. Sarah, a true southern lady, was known for her charm and graciousness. She was born in Waco, Texas on August 4, 1917 and raised in San Antonio, Texas where she was a former Fiesta Queen. Sarah attended Hollins College and graduated from the University of Texas, where she was a Pi Phi. She married George Egbert (Bert) Schwartz on February 1, 1940. In 1945 after WWII, she and Bert moved to El Paso, where they were active in the community and enjoyed a wonderful life together. Sarah was active in the Junior League and the Symphony Guild. She is survived by her two sons, William B. Schwartz and Richard G. Schwartz, and their partners, Kathleen Z. Schwartz and Mark A. Paulda, respectively; their grandchildren Russell W. Schwartz and wife Laura, William Dugger Schwartz and wife Michelle, Stacey Schwartz Franco and husband Adrian; great-grand daughters Madison L. Schwartz, Megan K. Franco and Katie M. Franco. She is preceded in death by her husband, G. E. (Bert) Schwartz; her brother, William L. Dugger, and her parents Lillian Strange Dugger and William L. Dugger, Sr. A Memorial Service was held at Sunset West Funeral Home on May 9. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name can be made to the giver’s charity of choice.
