Santiago Silva

June 11, 1932 — September 30, 2012

Santiago Silva Jr. (Telo/Chicho), 80, entered into eternal rest on September 30, 2012. He was born on June 11, 1931. He was inducted November 25, 1952 into the United States Army and served in the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Miriam Loera Silva; daughters: Dorothy Silva Martinez, Linda Silva and Hazel Silva; son, Santiago Silva III (Josie); brother, Guillermo Silva; and sister, Guadalupe Rivera. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Felipa and Santiago Silva Sr.; sister, Dolores S. Virgil; and two brothers, Oscar and Jorge Silva. He has six grandchildren: Chrystal Diaz (Ray), David Pacheco, Naomi Solis (Myke), Veronica Silva, Santiago Silva IV (Viviana) and Samantha Martinez; and Seven great grandchildren: Angel, Isabel, Giovanni, Rey, and Nicholas Diaz, Isabelle and Amaya Solis, and Santiago Silva V. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to William Beaumont Hospital ICU unit for their efforts and compassion. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 12:15pm, Friday October 5, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
