Sandra B. Rodriguez, 59 wouldn’t have liked to consider herself a HERO, most hero’s don’t. That’s why on February 22, 2012 when Sandy Rodriguez passed away at her home, all of us who knew her as HERO, could now celebrate her as one. She fought for her kids and people in every part of El Paso. You name the Recreation Center-she was part of it, dedicating 34 years of her life to the Parks & Recreation Department. From basketball to kids at risk, from the barrio to the west side - Our hero gave it all, all the time. Even while fighting her own battles she was always second. Her family learned that together all things are possible, no sweet tea is ever sweet enough, disco is never really dead - all while learning Sandy’s simple lesson: “You can be a hero too!” Sandy is survived by her husband; Angel Rios and children Cody and Ashley. We will be celebrating this hero’s Life. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, February 27, 2012 at St. Raphael Catholic Church (2301 Zanzibar). Rosary will begin at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be on February 28, 2012 at 11 am at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery East. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr.
