Sandra Elaine Blanchard

Sandra (Sandy) Elaine Blanchard, 75, peaceful passed in her home in El Paso, Texas, April 18, 2023.  Sandy is survived by her husband, Alexander Blanchard; daughter, Kathleen “Kat” (Ever) Santibanez; granddaughters, Alessandra and Savannah of El Paso, TX; and by her brother Don (Margret “Peggy”) Bowerman of East Jordan, Michigan.  

Sandy was born January 25, 1948, daughter of Edgar and Adeline Bowerman, in East Jordan, Michigan.  Sandy was active in Girl Scouts and had many grand adventures with her brother Don.  Sandy graduated from East Jordan High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University.  Sandy proudly served her country as an officer in the United States Army for over six years.  She was stationed in Germany where she met and married the love of her life, her husband of 42 years, Al Blanchard.  After her honorable discharge, Sandy continued to serve her community as an elementary school teacher in El Paso for 24 years.  Loved by her students and highly respected by her colleagues, Sandy won several Teacher of the Year awards, and was twice distinguished as Top Five District Teacher of the Year.  Sandy was very active in her daughter’s life by volunteering in the PTA,  sports team mom, Band Boosters, and being Mello Mom to the NMSU Corno Crew.  After retiring, Sandy traveled the world with her husband, visiting her Blanchard family in Florida and her Bowerman family in Michigan, and cruising with family friends Aragons and Nunezes.  Sandy and Al adopted the two smartest schnauzers Bandit and Smokey, and helped their daughter and favorite son-in-law with their small business.  Most importantly, Sandy became the World’s Greatest Grandma to Alessandra and Savannah.
