Samuel David Quiñonez

Samuel David Quiñonez “El Indio“, December 14, 1936 - May 28, 2011, 74, went to be with his Lord and savior on May 28, 2011. He was very well loved and respected by his family, many friends, and the community as he gave graciously to all. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carmen Salas Quiñonez, and his children: Jose Salas, Sylvia Ledesma (Enrique Ledesma), Mary Cruz (Rafael Wilson Cruz), Rosemary Garza (Albert Garza), Sandra Quiñonez, Francine Humphries, and David Ortega. His grandchildren include: Stephanie Barrs, Levi Ledesma, Samantha Jo Garza, Brianna Ledesma, Jonathan Salas, Sammy D. Quiñonez and great-grandchild Ezra Barrs. He is also survived by his siblings: Hermelinda Aldeis, Gloria Garcia, Lupe Escamilla, Angel Medina, and Jose Carmelo Medina. He was preceded in death by his brother Miguel Medina. Samuel was a Supervisor/Coach at Levi Strauss for over 26 years. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army in 1955. He was not only a soldier in the U.S. Army but he was a lifelong soldier for God. In addition to his love for his family, Samuel loved the Lord above all. He spent the majority of his time ministering to anyone within an earshot. He was loved by many and he will truly be missed. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Service will be held at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
