Samuel Luis Gutierrez

Sam "Sambo" Gutierrez, 44, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021. He was born on June 9, 1976, in El Paso, Texas. Sam was an active member of Ysleta del Sur Pueblo where he proudly served his Pueblo in on Traditional Council for his Pueblo for many years. Sam was the artist and owner to War-Kui Ysleta Native Arts, mentored individuals through his arts and indigenous beliefs, and traveled with his family around Indian Country selling his artwork. He enjoyed cooking for everyone and was always up for an adventure in the desert. Sam was survived by his wife Angie, his children Samantha, Annika, and Robert, his Mother Susana, Stepfather Manuel, siblings: Cristina, Max, Brenda, and Ariel, nieces, and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his father, grandparents, aunt, and uncles. Services for Sam are as follows: Viewing will be on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Ysleta Old Mission (131 S. Zaragoza Road) between 5 PM and 7 PM, immediately followed by a Rosary at 7 PM. Mass will be at 10 AM at the Old Mission on Friday, June 18, 2021, interment to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
