Sam Marusich Jr., went home to his heavenly Father on November 24, 2021. On October 1st, Sam celebrated his 95th birthday. Sam and his wife Martha were married for over 70 wonderful years. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother and friend. The son of Samuel and Luisa Marusich, brother to deceased Oscar Marusich and Olga Wardy, Sam is survived by his sisters Thelma Sitters, Mariana Salem and Yolanda Rey. A native El Pasoan, Sam first met his beautiful bride to be at Austin High school where he was a star athlete in Football, Basketball and Track. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army and was a Veteran of World War II. When the war ended, Sam returned to El Paso and resumed his loving relationship with Martha. He graduated from Texas Western College where, in addition to his studies, he played and starred on the TWC Football Team. In 1949, Sam and Martha were married and he began his rewarding career of 45 years in the masonry construction business. Sam enjoyed life, loved and always provided for his family, and adored and respected his bride Martha. We will lovingly remember all the beautiful memories and joy of knowing Sam but realize that Jesus will show him what Joy really is and will have Martha and all his cherished family waiting to greet and celebrate his arrival in heaven. Sam is survived by his son Sam and spouse Maria, daughter Luann and spouse Bill Pierce, son Frank, son Erich and spouse Laura; grandchildren, Sam, Marion, Ashley, Danielle, Rochelle, Kersti and Sean; great-grandchildren Angelina, Jackson, Austin, Luis, Conrad, Remi, Sunny, Catheryne, Laila, Simone, Vanessa, Carlos, Nicolet and Regina. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. The Funeral Mass will be said at 11:30 am on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4800 Byron. Committal Service will follow at 1:00 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue. Please visit our online register book at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
