Salvador Frescas

January 27, 1947 — June 8, 2011

Salvador Frescas, the greatest, most loving father, grandfather and generous husband, born on January 27, 1947, surrounded by his loved ones, walked into the loving embrace of our Lord Jesus Christ on June 8, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Arnulfo and Natalia and nephews, John and David. He is survived by his devoted wife Lupe of 45 years, his three daddy’s girls, Veronica, Deborah and Cynthia and six adoring grandchildren, Daniela, Mitchell, Giovanni, Mia, Hanna and Maceo; brothers Fito (Verna), Jaime (Velia) and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1965 Bowie High School graduate, he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army. Sal was a well-respected car salesman/manager for 35 years. His profound pleasure in life was spending any available time with his grandchildren; playing with them, going to their sports games, school functions, or vacationing. He was proud of everyone’s accomplishments-big and small. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Sal leaves behind his legacy of a zest for life and unconditional love for family-that we will continue for him. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to: Dr. Teresa Reed; you were his God-sent angel, you fought a great fight for him and we will be forever grateful to you and your wonderful staff. Dr. Panagiotis Valilis, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for working so hard for him. The compassionate nursing staff at Providence Infusion Center, your patience and gentle care will always be remembered. Oscar Leeser thank you, you were truly his “hermano.” Raul Cuellar, thank you for your generosity towards him and constant prayers. Manny and Lilly Ontiveros thank you for demonstrating the true meaning of friendship. Thank you Pastor Warren Hoyt for comforting him in his need of comfort, and thank all of you who lifted him and us in prayer. To all blood donors, thank you for saving a life. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. A visitation will be held 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Monday, June 13, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 Queen of Peace. Interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
