Ruthelle Conner Jones

Ruthelle Conner Jones was born April 17, 1930 in Quanah, TX. and died October 12, 2012 at the age of 82. She was the daughter of John S. Conner and Olivia Edwards Conner. Ruthelle was an “army brat”, attending twelve schools in twelve years before graduating from Covina High School, Pasadena, California in 1948. She attended Western New Mexico University, earning a business degree in 1951. It was in Silver City, NM that she met the love of her life, Jimmie L. Jones. They were married August 5, 1951 at Fort Bliss and had sixty-one happy years together. Ruthelle and Jimmie lived in Hobbs, NM from 1952-1994, where Jimmie taught school and they raised their four children. In Hobbs, Ruthelle worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses and taught at the College of the Southwest. She was a member of the Jr. Women’s Club, First Baptist Church and later Northside Baptist Church. In 1994, Jimmie and Ruthelle retired and moved to El Paso, TX. Ruthelle is survived by her husband Jimmie L. Jones, her children Marjorie (Larry) Nelson; Terry (Lou) Jones; Darryl (Joyce) Jones and Steven (Cheryl) Jones. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jessica Zimmerman, Michelle Jones, Taylor Jones, Will Jones and Kevin Riley. Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 10:30 am at Coronado Baptist Church. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
