Russell Wayne Parker

January 24, 1933 — May 29, 2017

RUSSELL WAYNE PARKER passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at the age of 84. He was born in St. Louis Missouri and was raised in Los Angeles, California. He was a graduate of West Point Military Academy Class of 1954. He served our country proudly serving overseas in Kwajalein Island, Thule Greenland, Germany, Vietnam, as well as attending Shippensburg University attaining Masters Degree in Management and retired as a Colonel with the United States Army Air Defense Artillery in 1984. He continued his education at Georgia Tech attaining Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Parker continued in the defense industry for 4 and half years then truly found his love for teaching at UTEP for 11 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lindsay Tall. He is survived by his wife Ann Marie Parker, their children; Lisa Whitney, Keith Parker and his wife Jackie, Stacy Murphy and her husband Michael Murphy, his sister Carol Hollis, his brother-in-law Paul Shelton, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, his niece Sherry Donovan and her husband Dave and 2 great-nieces. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 4:00PM at University Presbyterian Church, 244 N. Resler Dr. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Lion’s Summer Children’s Camp, P.O. box 290247, Kerrville, TX 78029 or SPJ, P.O. box 222038, El Paso, TX, 79913.
