Russell Byrd

Russell Byrd, MSG (Retired), 79, of El Paso, TX, passed away on March 31, 2009. He was born November 2, 1929 in Hartford, CT, and raised in West Virginia. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving 27 years and also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Grace Byrd, his son, Charles Byrd, two brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Byrd; son, Edward Byrd (Lucy); daughter, Wanda Williams; grandsons, Kevin Williams and Anthony Rodriguez Byrd; great granddaughter, Andrea, all of El Paso, TX; sister, Beatrice Hairston (Robin) of Lester, WV; cousins, other family members and friends. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:00 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Center Chapel #1, Fort Bliss, TX. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Center Chapel #1, Fort Bliss, TX. Committal Service will be at 2:30 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
