Ruben J. Valenzuela Sr.

Ruben Sr. 67, born and raised in El Paso, Texas, died after a three-year battle with cancer on January 16, 2024. He was full of life, quick to tell a joke and be the first to give you the shirt off his back. Growing up Ruben enjoyed playing baseball, fishing, and trips to Victoria and Corpus Christi, Tx. He graduated from YHS class of 1975 and retired from UPS as a heavy freight truck driver. His favorite pastimes consisted of fishing, grilling, or washing his 1986 Bronco while listening to music with a cold one in is hand. He was a great son, brother, uncle, wonderful husband, and amazing father and grandfather. He was a family man with a heart of gold and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Valenzuela and Delia Hinojosa and brother, Albert Valenzuela and Armando Valenzuela. Ruben is survived by his beloved wife, Genoveva G. Valenzuela; son, Ruben Valenzuela Jr.; daughters, Cynthia Ibarra and Delmara Salgado; brothers, Benny Valenzuela, Manuel Valenzuela and Enrique Valenzuela. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren who will honor and cherish his memory for eternity. He was loved and will be missed by all those that met him.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary starting at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home - Americas, 9521 North Loop Drive, El Paso, Texas 79907. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 131 S. Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, Texas 79907. A graveside will follow at 11:15 AM on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, Texas 79907.
