Roy C. Cyrus

Roy C. Cyrus, born in Green Sulphur Springs, W. VA on September 10, 1935 entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, June 7, 2008, he was 72. He proudly served in the U.S. Army where he retired after 21 years, with the rank of MSGT. During his service he was awarded numerous medals which included the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer J. Cyrus and Margaret V. Hocum. Mr. Cyrus is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Herminia “Minnie“ Cyrus. His sister, Carol Bowles of W. VA. His sons, Guillermo Collazo, Daniel (Lourdes) Collaso of Brownsville, TX, his daughter, Josephine (Timothy) Shay of Muscatine, Iowa. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous relatives. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Guillermo Collazo, Daniel Collaso, Christopher Collaso, Eugene Sheets, Jr., Cruz Hernandez, Sammy Hernandez, Cruz Ramos, and Elias Rivero II.
