Rosalva U. Alvarez

Rosalva U. Alvarez,40, my loving wife and best friend of 19 ½ years passed away on Friday, October 19, 2007. She was a lifelong resident of El Paso and a member of the Catholic community. She worked for the El Paso Gas Company for several years and then moved on to the Department of Human Services where she worked for 14 years and finally worked for UTEP’S Athletic Department. In 2004 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and battled it for three years. Her favorite hobby was making jewelry and collecting Betty Boop figures as well as Angel figurines. She loved her two dogs Fiona & Dulce. She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel C. Alvarez; mother, Delia Chavez; brothers, Jose Francisco & Saul Unzueta; sister, Anabel Unzueta; aunts & uncles, Adel Montes (Chuy), Laura Chavez ( Gerardo) & Dora M. Godinez; many friends & ex-coworkers. Visitation will be from 4-9 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2007 with a Vigil at 7 PM at Sunset Funeral Home- East located at 750 North Carolina. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said at 10 AM ( time pending) at St. Pius X Catholic Church,1050 N. Clark on Thursday, October 25, 2007. She will be greatly missed by all. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Unzueta, Gerardo Chavez, Chuy Montes, Ricardo Talvera, Ray Ballard & Victor M. Melendez Sr. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home- East.
