Rosa A. Valdez

It is with a heavy heart and sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend Rosa, "Rosie" "La Bonita" Valdez Sept 30, 1947 - December 6, 2024. Rosa was always a very approachable person, with a greeting of "¿Como estas?", "How are you?", every time she saw you. She was always genuinely interested in knowing how you were. Her interest in knowing how her family and friends always resulted in long engaging conversations. Rosa worked for over forty years with the Texas Gas Service, but she never allowed her work to define her. We will forever miss her huevos rancheros, silver- dollar pancakes, rice pudding, her sense of humor, quick wit, radiating joy, and her endless shopping trips to Walmart. No out-of-town trip was ever complete without a trip to Wal-Mart.

Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life is her only daughter Veronica Portillo and her husband Mark, her grandchildren Noah Medina, Sydney Elorreaga and her husband Jason as well their daughter, Rosa's great-granddaughter, Leia Elorreaga. Left to celebrate her spirit is her only surviving brother Francisco "Kiko" Arriola and his wife Hortencia "Tencha", and their children Melissa, Michelle, Xavier, and their families. Her nieces and nephews Armando "Mando" Jr., Hector, Zelma, Irma, Leticia, Rose, Roberto, and Guadalupe "Lupe" Salas and their families, all children from her deceased sister Guadalupe "Lupe" Salas also hold her legacy close and remember her joyously. Also left to preserve her memory are her nieces and nephew, Yvonne, "Bonnie," Sylvia, and Roberto Jr. from her deceased brother Roberto, "Bobby," and his wife Sylvia.

As we remember and celebrate her life here on Earth, waiting to greet her at the heavenly gates will be her mother Amelia, her father Enrique, her grandmother Julia, sister Guadalupe "Lupe", her brother Roberto, and her previously deceased ancestors.

Please join us for a Viewing on Friday December 20, 2024 at 4:00 PM with the Rosary recitation at 6:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Homes-East at 750 N. Carolina Dr., El Paso, TX, 79915. Rite of Committal will be on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N. Clark.
