Rosa Oliver Soza

On the evening of May 2^nd, 2023, Rosa Lucila Soza (Oliver) at the age of 84 passed away peacefully after a brief illness. 

     She was born in El Paso, TX to Juan V. and Amalia Oliver on October 31, 1938.  She spent her life in El Paso, graduated from Jefferson HS in 1956, and retired from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).

     Rosa was a spirited soul who took on many passions. One included riding with her husband on their motorcycle and being with her dog, Lady.  She found comfort in Crocheting blankets for her family and friends, camping and tending to her fish.

     She was preceded in death by her parents Juan V. and Amalia Oliver, her brothers John, and Jesus Oliver.

     She is survived by her Husband William “Bill” Soza, her children; Sylvia Rico, Rodolfo (Victoria) Rico, Yvette (David) Martinez, Rosie (Robert) Brown.  Her stepchildren; Christina (Jared Nelson} Soza, Beverly Soza, Billy (Suzette Debiani) Soza, Ashley Fontanez, Johnathon (Danielle) Soza, Caitlyn (Bodie) Netheriain.  Her loving sister Sylvia Thomas, and brother Gilbert Oliver, as well as six grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and seventeen Great grandchildren.

   Rosa was a beautiful person, who cared for the people around her.  She made an impact on many lives.  She will be forever missed.  Until Valhalla “til we meet again”.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home- West. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 9:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home- West.  A Graveside Service will follow at 10:30 am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
